An open letter
« on: December 28, 2019, 03:24:26 PM »
Not that I think I'm some sort of big shot or anything, but I wanted to clear the air on what is happening with me, anyways.

Formally, I am no longer a staffer for 900 Global. I have no Ill will towards 900 Global, or anyone that I've worked with there. For a year and a half, it was awesome. The brand that I had chosen to represent for almost a decade signed me to a deal. For me, it was a dream come true.

But as we know, bowling is getting smaller. Centers closing, prize funds shrinking, league bowling on the decline. When making decisions for a business, you have to make business decisions, not personal decisions.

Myself, and other staffers that were much more qualified were informed that our contracts were not renewed. As to why, the majority of us could only speculate. Did the recent purchase of EBI by Brunswick scare everyone but Storm? Is 900 Global going to try to put the full court press on people that are jumping ship from Ebonite, therefore cutting less visible staff? It's all speculation, and I don't have a concrete answer.

Global equipment is still great. Anything that I may feel about my situation doesn't take away from the quality of the equipment.

However, due to personal reasons, I will not be keeping on top of the equipment or be active on the Global subforum.

Now, reason I have chosen Motiv as my first new company to try since 2007?

I can't see another ball reaction that is as pleasing to my eye.

Don't know if I would try some Utah, and do not want to go into Brunswick territory. That pretty much covers everyone left standing.

Don't worry, I'll still tell you what I think, honestly. It's just time to switch it up a bit.

Thank you to all of the people that have allowed me to help them over the years. It is one of my greatest pleasures, to help whomever I can help.

I am so sorry to hear that this has happened to someone that has been a true advocate of the 900 brand.

You are one of the most active, knowledgeable staffers on the boards and always there to help anyone that you can help. I have benefited from your assistance this past few years and have really enjoyed the balls that I’ve purchased and a big part of that is down to your layout recommendations.

You will be a loss to 900 Global brand (they will find that out in the future I’m sure) but at least thankfully we’ll still see you kicking around the boards helping us still.

Good luck with your new family.

Doom, I second all the factual and kind words spoken about your assistance here on BR.
Personally the one thing I missed was the pleasure of seeing ball videos from you on the level of Average Joe Reviews, Tammer Bowling, Luke R., and MotivMags.  I always wanted to put a face to your wonderful help and assistance as well as seeing you actually bowl (style) as you do the ball review.
Hope you score a staff position with Motiv or another company.  You deserve it.
Best of Luck to you.

Video will still happen at some point. Life can get pretty busy, and I'm proof of that, lol

Thanks Doom, I can honestly say I gave 900G a shot because of your posts.

Meanwhile...Motiv needs someone to counter all those copypasta staffer "reviews" of theirs, LOL!

I just wait for Milo's verdict generally (and Angel's ball motion videos).  Don't get that keeps the pins low bullshit buzzword bingo out of him lol.

You guys do understand that Motiv gives points to Motiv staffers when they post a written review and another point value when they post a video?   I thought that was very known to the bowling world.  If you don't like their drivel then just ignore.  I ONLY pay attention to what Mike Magolan, Micheal Coffey and a few other Motiv staffers.  MattyG when he was doing Motiv on bowlerx was great but they lost him.  The copy and paste boilerplate isn't worth reading or considering in fact any staffer that can't post their stats. and conditions bowled on is also crap.

You know, I can't blame the staffers of any company for doing this. Bowling isn't a full time job anymore. Most of us have full time jobs, families, and other obligations. When you're signed to a company, they do want you to do video and reviews on xyz sites, so they just copy paste and shoot some video on their cell phones.

Now, do I like the reviews some of the Motiv staffers do? Yeah..some are still company men, but tell you like it is, then there are some that are... Shills.

Personally, I like Tamer because he's not being backed by a company.

Doom, I never stuck my toe into the Global pond, but I always admired how you represented the company with professionalism and dignity. For whatever happens to you next, good luck.

I agree I Doom on your take on staffer and what they do.  Just ignore and nothing they write should be taken for anything other than their obligation.  Just move along.

riggs when you could read his reviews was one of the ONLY staffers that was truthful in his reviews of Storm equipment whether it matched up to him or not.  He didn't pull any punches.  riggs called a spade a spade.   Personally I like Lonnie Pemberton's aka RevStorm video's as his stats. and mine are a complete match.  Rev dominant good player.

Well, you know, as a staffer, you have to try to find something good about the ball. For example, the Ordnance Pearl looks like crap when using a pin up drill. Why? High RG core, high diff, strong pearl cover. Add all those things together, and you have a ball that would expend all of its energy as soon as it saw friction, and kinda stop. Go pin down, and you see a different more rounded shape. It's all part of the staff game.
