an oven, a ball, and an idiot
« on: December 27, 2004, 03:54:30 PM »
creates a ball baking extravaganza! After deciding to absolutely destroy my rhino pro x, I first proceded to hammer into the ball with a nail. After I tired of this, I took the nail and put deep scratches into the ball. Taking it to the lanes, the ball rolled earlier than anything I have ever seen in my life (don't worry, the grooves were not deep and would not hurt the lanes).

AFter taking the ball home, while the parents were asleep, I turned the oven up to 550. I carefully layed the ball down on the rack. After proceeding to leave it in there for 20 minutes, the whole house became filled with smoke, the alarm went off, but luckily, the parents did not arise, and when i opened the door, the ball was smoking and the grips had melted.

The ball continued to smoke for 5 more minutes, filling the house with the most wretched smell imaginable. I then proceeded to throw the ball out my window into the snow. Currently, the ball is still sitting in the snow, and I will update you all further on its situation.

What i would like to know, is did the ball seem to knock the snow down any harder that it would have before you had baked it?

Actually, a small amount of snow did bounce up and hit me in the face. Maybe thats a sign to the ball's new potential???

and just to update, when the ball was removed from the snow, a few large cracks were visible. Chiseling away at them became a hastle, I think I will try jamming something in their to wedge the shell apart.

Stanski, you still have several steps to complete demolition.  First you must drag the ball down the freeway at over 60 MPH.  Then toss if from the top of a 3 story building or over a cliff, at least 3 times.  Should the "ball" (I doubt it will be round at this point) still maintain structural integrity an M-80 in the thumbhole (weighthole also if applicable) should finish it off.

LOL, your a lucky man, a fellow bowler did the same to a relitive new Storm Recovery a couple years ago. She left it in the over and forgot it was "baking"
she return sometime later to find smoke rolling out of the oven door, upon opening the oven door the ball had split open and the coverstock had began to flame up. Another hard lesson learned.

Some good ideas there! I'll have to go to downdown detroit and find an abandoned building (there are plenty there) with structural integrity and throw the ball off of it. If I do decide to do this, I will update you all further to its situation.

I hope the crack belonged to the ball, and not the perpetrator.

I thought I would take the time to point out that I still do have the remnants of the ball (don't know if its considered a ball at this point?) sitting in my basement. I did take it downtown and roll it around a bit after a friend took an old axe to it. The poor sucker is in 4 or 5 pieces now. I'll have to take a picture of the core for anyone who ever wanted to see what a beautiful single drill rhino x core looked like.

I'm familiar with that awful wretched aroma that comes from an overheated bowling ball.  I got heavy handed on the thermostat one night after baking an AfterShock for over 5 hours, and I cranked it up to 350 degrees for a few minutes.  Well, the ball cracked into many pieces, and all of the plasticizer resins were running everywhere.  These days, I limit the oven to no more than 150 degrees.
