Angular Solid?
« on: April 04, 2017, 10:22:45 AM »
Whats the most angular solid you currently or recently (past year) owned? Mine is currently the Rocket Ship.

Aside from the novelty of the question, another reason for posting is because I think many people are scared to try solids because they want to see backend movement.
Current Rotation:
PhysiX
Code X
Code Black
Axiom Pearl
Phaze III
Trend
IQ Tour

Alpha crux has been very strong off the end of the oil for me.  Probably too much as my carry had been very hit and miss.

Venom Shock is the most angular solid that I've ever thrown.  Surprised to see that no one else has mentioned it.

My Venom Shock is almost the least angular ball in my bag.  I like the roll, but others think it starts rolling in my backswing.

spmcgivern, it's probably a combination of the layout and differences in our tilt and axis rotation.  Not saying the shock is the most angular solid that I've ever seen, but it was the most angular solid that I have thrown.

Totally agree.  If a bowler has high rotation and low tilt, then everything is angular.

+1 very true, I'm one of them, which is why I mainly use weaker equipment ( hybrids/pearls)

For older equipment, My Visionary Immortal Solid, Visionary DC Tour, and Columbia300 Super Cuda/C were just crazy off the spot.

As for newer equipment, my Storm Alpha Crux, Hammer Vibe Envy XR, and my Brunswick Aura Paranormal have all given me great angle lately.

I disagree.  High axis tilt with average rotation will also make many balls angular.
Also, average tilt and average rotation with slow ball speed will do the same.

However, you must also factor in ball speed. You can have  high axis tilt and/or high rotation, but if you also have higher, firmer ball speed, than you can get a normal or expected backend from a ball, depending on how fast your ball speed is.

I can make just about any ball look angular!  High axis rotation and softer speed.

All my best results come from rounded looks heading to the pocket.

A few older Assymetric Solids with radical backends for me, Mission X, Virtual gravity, (though a Solid type hybrid mine is dull), the very big Rogue Cell!  A recent Angular monster for me is the Pyramid Chosen Path.

Some other symmetric solids that for me explode to the right,.....signal on...right turn!  Brunswick LT 48 Vintage,  Also, a Storm Reign of Power.

Thanks,

I second that, this why I've only thrown the storm mix mostly the whole year.
