This is kind of an interesting topic.
I think many people don't realize that almost any solid can have an added degree of angularity if it is used on the wrong condition or if it is drilled wrong or is used with the wrong surface for the bowler's style and/or for the condition for which it was designed.
On the other hand, many new oilers, from the time of the Storm Virtual Gravity, have been and are being designed to have a strong backend. Heck, let me backtrack on that: from the time of the original Danger Zone. Balls seem to have greater carry power when they have stronger backends, in general. There's also the condition being, when the bowler can control that backend with either speed or release.
On top of all this, MO has been encouraging bowlers for many years now to drill strong ball with a pin-up (small VAL angle) which results in a higher RG AND Intermediate differential. Some of these new oilers, together with Mo's "enhanced drillings' can actually appear to flip on true heavy oil.
Given all these ideas/factors/considerations, it's actually surprising that there aren't MANY, MANY more posters on this thread.
