Rocket To the HeadPin
« on: May 17, 2004, 06:43:33 PM »
I have noticed a lot of the pro's when they need a high count on thier last ball they throw a "Rocket" to the headPin. I wondered why the did this then in succsessive days I bowled a clean game until the tenth frame in my second games and bowled a 5 split and a Big 4.

Is there a general rule of thumb for throwing a rocket to the headpin? When and why?
I would have got away with it if it was not for those pesky kids (Behind my lane) and those blasted 10 pins.

I've seen them do it when they need 6 or 7 to win and they want to avoid the 4-5 count designer splits like you mentioned, or if they already have the match wrapped up and they're just throwing the next ball on the rack to save time.
