Lane Treatment Questions???
« on: February 12, 2005, 01:24:20 PM »
There are two small alley's in my local town. Both have 8 lanes each. The one I bowl league at got new brunswick laneshield and he has an oiler/stripper combo (I'm sure this is common in bigger towns). Lots of high scores lately. ABC was even called to check the pattern by the other house. The other house, has older lanes, not sure what, and they only have an oiler, NO STRIPPER!!!! The owner uses a mop on the backend and attempts to push oil into the gutters. Is this common practice or what? I hate bowling there. Not only do the heads burn fast but, it feels like there is 60 feet of oil. No heads with a flooded backend.

So, is this normal with older lanes and a center without a stripper?

I always struggle there. I actually ended up throwing an old danger zone toru edition thats been plugged like 2 or 3 times. The cherry just wouldn't make the turn. My actual ascores won't be dsicussed. Lets just say I haven't bowled that bad since I used to bowl with 2 fingers

Thanks for reading. Not much of a question I know...

Kyle

All I can add to this is that I have heard of stories about this. I have never seen this done though. Sorry can't really help.

Rex is right....
If you want to make a killing in Handicap Tourny's just bowl that old house where you can't score to establish your league average. Only practice at the other house where the scores are high. It won't be fun but you'll clean up when it comes time to cash.
