The Raw Hammer Burn is by far the bes skid flipper.....I have it and it is awesome. I had a 300 game with it earlier this past season. Excellent ball for this condition. It has alot of pop in the backend and just smashes the pocket. It is a pretty forgiving ball as well. This ball will always be in my bag alongside my C300 Bedlam, which is alot smoother and more controllable when the condition calls for it.

I have heard that the burn is super flippy and angular.. I just didn't know how it would be on drier lanes .. if it would still get down and flip or just burn up and smooth out..
problem with hammer stuff is it is already at 4000 abralon..
some other balls I am looking at may not be rated as flippy or long out of the box but they are at 2000 abralon .. figure I could take the grit up and get some added length and flip on the back..
don't the burn and the midnight vibe have the same cover.. or similar..
I think the midnight might be a pearl verion..
so Maybe I need to give the midnight vibe another look..

JW,

As I said in the Storm topic, the same ball that is flippy (skid/snap, skid/flip) for dry to medium light oil will NOT be flippy for medium-light to medium oil. The difference in oil amount and lengths are too great.

A Tropical Storm can be drilled to be flippy for dry/light to medium-light oil. That same ball will not be flippy for medium oil.

The Burn or the Tropical Heat or the Midnight Vibe can be drilled to be flippy for medium-light to medium oil. On dry/light oil, it will burn up in the heads and midlane and arc, if you are lucky enough to be able to use it.

So I am leaning toward just drilling up a tropical storm..cause my main concern is losing the flip on lighter oil drier lanes..around this area there are pretty good backends so the medium oil we see is up front and in the middle so that means the ball should still kick on the backend with the clean backends..

I understand what you are saying though. the Trop Storm will not want to flip in any considerable amount of oil.. it needs the dry to move..

Got an avalanche pearl urethane drilled with the pin up(5"pin  to pap double thumb drilling.. without the x-hole right now) and it isn''t snappy on the backend..nice long smooth hook the whole way...
It isn''t quite strong enough either.. It has to be really really dry for that ball to move

Maybe I have to much hand, but the Freeze is way to strong for any dry condition unless you drill the ball with a control layout.

I would agree with this.  I can use the Freeze medium to light.  Once it gets burned out, it's simply too much.

But I've seen people have a lot of success on lighter patterns with both the Columbia Freeze and Storm Reign.  The Reign is a beast on the backend in the local light oil house.

I'd have to say the Red and Black Backlash.
