Solutions of thumb hole rubbing?
« on: February 21, 2005, 09:13:09 AM »
Today went bowling with my friend and shot 6 games. (5th game I had the front nine but CHoKeD in the tenth) After we were done I notcied my thumb was all red on the side (like always) I know the REAL solution to stop thumb hole rubbing is to move the side pitch towards the rubbing but I can not afford to have all my balls redrilled. I've been using new skin but it really bugs me having to use a stupid skin patch every time out. And its starting to get expensive. Does anyone use something like black tape on the Side of the thumb hole(I know its meant for the back) or w/e to stop rubbing? Maybe putting some type of cloth on the rubbing side could help? Any suggestions? (looking for something I can put in the thumbhole to stop the rubbing rather than on my thumb)

I have always had problems with the right side of my thumb rubbing but I have not attempted to fix it since every time that I do, I lose the great feel I have in my thumbhole right now.

What I have done is to start using the Turbo or Vise grip tape. I have used the tan Turbo tape and also hte pink or blue Vise tape. I don't see much of a difference. Both of them do cause you to get out of the ball quicker and cleaner though so use caution.

At $10 per roll it's a great fix in my mind.

Havn't used any of this tape before, do you put the tape in the hole or is it more like skin tape that goes on your thumb? I like the idea of getting out cleaner, the rubbing causes a little drag at the end that sometimes throws off my release.

Anybody know what I can do about this? Can some explain Vise or Turbo tape a little better to me?
