Another great deal on ebay....well not really
« on: February 16, 2007, 03:49:15 PM »
people on ebay just confuse the crap out of me.  you can find some really good deals on ebay but then you get some dumb people like whoever is winning this aution http://cgi.ebay.com/15LB-USED-EBONITE-TOTAL-NV-EXCELLENT-COND_W0QQitemZ180084462420QQihZ008QQcategoryZ36105QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
after shipping they are paying over 134 bucks and you can get them nib from joe for 135 shipped with some free stuff.  just doesnt make sense to me.

the only reason i can think of is maybe the specs on the balls match up with his specs perfectly then he doesnt have to plug or spend any other money.  then i guess its not a terrible deal

He is probably pushing the price up and then he gets to the ceiling and goes over.  Then ends up winning.  I wouldn't doubt if it is the same person.

its most likely a scam. hes probably jacking up the price. even though he wins hes not paying for it.  he contacts the second highest bidder saying the person who won it original changed their mind or didnt pay. i got a Roto Grip Fuel like this.  I bid on it. and someone else won it.  a couple of weeks later the seller said i had priority or something. so i got it for $10.

Well, the person selling is from Long Island and the one that's supposedly winning is Brooklyn....so take that for what it's worth.

The other thing to do if you are really surious is to send a mail to the people that were second and third bidders to see if an auction was set up or offered to them.  I've had issues with this in the past and confronted the people via email and would do so in person if needed as well.

If you don't have an issue with in meaning you aren't bidding, then don't worry about it since it doesn't impact you.

If you think it is shill bidding, contact E-Bay. They will suspend his account in a minute.

It happened to a buddy of mine who told some friends of his about his listings. They thought they were doing him a favor by bidding the balls up and his account got suspended in the process.
