Sport League ?
« on: July 11, 2007, 04:44:40 AM »
With all the talk about Sport conditions being the answer to restore the integrity of the sport I have one question.  Is it really the answer?  There is so much variety allowed in the Sport Compliant conditions that I'm not convinced.

Look at the statistics for Sport Leagues (Bowl.com - Sport Bowling - Statistics) and you see only a few CA or West Coast bowlers represented and a ton form IL, KS, and WI.  Does that mean the better bowlers are from those areas?  Do more leagues use the correct software in those areas and the West Coast leagues do not?  or, what I suspect, Do leagues in those areas use the sport shots that break down quicker?

We have bowlers in the sport league I bowl who are 220 - 230 on THS, yet the highest average in our Sport league is at best a low 200.  We have PBA Regional players in the league, so it is not that we have just a bunch od wannabes in the league.

So even if they make all leagues use sport compliant conditions, there will still be houses that will choose the more challenging of the patterns and those that will chose the softer patterns.

well that's another issue..because there are limitations of what you can do to be sport compliant there wouldn't be comformity between houses exactly.  plus you could have a so called sport league and just not register it with usbc, it saves the time and effort of sending in the tapes every week.
