Any idea on how this would play?
« on: March 16, 2010, 07:33:54 AM »
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how to read these lane charts?

http://www.mistatebowl.com/masters/2010%20Michigan%20State%20Masters%20program.pdf

I am just looking to get an idea of what type of shot I would want to try to play.  I know I have to take into consideration the lane surface and all that, but to me it looks like the outsides might be out of bounds, and it would take a more inside angle to score?

Anybody have an idea?

39 ft pattern, you would want your exit point, the point at which you exit the oil pattern to be in the 7,8,9 area, depending on the lane surface etc.  I would start straight up 8 and go from there.

Like CHawk said, up 8 or even a bit inside of that would probably be a good place to start.

27.56 mL is pretty much oil so unless it is being applied to a higher friction surface (like wood, older synthetics or AMF SPL) it could play pretty slick.

With a ratio of 1:3.2 it could be pretty tough so straighter is probably the way to go, at least until there is a defined burn area.

Good luck!

Agree with CHawk and Filip. My concern with this graph is the big area of just forward oil between the 20 and 31 foot area. The mids could get blown out quick making for big transactions.

i would start in practice out. like up 4 since there is that big drop off of oil. 39' isnt that long so the ball should have plenty of time to walk up to the headpin. or play like 12-8-5

i think u should see the lanes first, in our house, we lack of backend, therefore making sportshots very difficult to carry even once u find the pocket

adjust ur balls to fit the surface and oil pattern
--------------------
When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

I know that Pro Bowl has a decent amount of friction, so I'm guessing the backs might be flying.  At least for the first couple games.
