sliding foot
« on: September 08, 2016, 03:25:45 PM »
When playing deep and throwing a big hook, does anyone angle their sliiding foot towards their mark on the approach? Whenever I try to swing the ball it seems like I have a hard time getting the ball far enough to the right. Just wondering if angling my foot slightly would help. I typically play straighter so my sliding foot is always straight.

I actually angle my whole body a little. I just point my body at the target I want to hit. It's not drastic, but just enough to help me get the ball further right.

I'm also angling my body, but I am new to trying to swing the lane. I feel like I have to angle my body a lot more when I play center arrow vs 4th arrow. I'll try to get a video taken tonight at be critiqued

Center arrow is 4th arrow.

Gotta open them hips and shoulders to feed it right!

Impending Doom nailed it.  In order to play deep inside, one needs to open the shoulders & hips to the right. The question is how far?
One needs to experiment as we are all a little different.  Just like shooting cross lane for 10 pins, where many of us stand and target does not work for everyone. You need to be in church, then find your own pew.

Whoops! I meant center arrow vs THIRD arrow. Wow I need to check what I type. Starting to sound like another unnamed member of this forum who is almost impossible to understand.

A little bit of a mental thing going on when you try to project the ball away from the pins.  Your brain is telling you "hey, the pocket is over here, not over there"   Be patient, find a mental game to play to convince your brain it's OK to throw away from the pocket.

Maybe slide less like Scott Norton or Anthony Pepe. That helped my game
Will expand arsenal after I polish my spares.

PS......If you aren't using it already, Line Bowling or Line sighting is very helpful.  This is some of the mental game I was referring to.   It's not all physical.
