Are Lane Masters Balls That Good?

My local pro shop is basicially a Storm Ball shop.The driller used to bowl on the lady's tour and she was sponsered by Storm and her husband used to work for Storm. Other than a couple Brunswicks and a couple Ebonite's in stock, her pro shop's stock and sales are almost all Storm......That is until the last 3 weeks or so. Now she is selling the Yeah Baby and the New Standard as fast as she can get them in. Really surprises me beings she is such a strong Storm Person.

Soooo.....My question is: Are these balls really that good? I'm sure she must be pushing them as most people around here have no clue to these balls and it surprises me that being as strong of Storm person as she is, that these balls are outselling Storm and all of the other balls put togeather.

So again, are these balls that much more superior when compared to Columbia, Brunswick, Storm, Track, Ebonite, etc.?

I have the New Standard, the Yeah Baby and the Absolute Power, and in general, there isn't a loser in the bunch. They cover a wide variety of oil patterns, they all hit like trucks on virtually all conditions and they seem to retain their hitting power for a long time. I've polished and sanded them and they respond to small changes in the coverstock'ssurface with large differences in ball reaction.

The only ball they don't have YET is one for dry to very light oil.

Charlest, would you classify them as superior to balls such as Vertigo, Absolute Inferno, Track GP2, Columbia Bully or whatever it is called, and etc. In other words, are they superior to the balls from other companies or are they classified as "just as good."

Who makes them?

azo makes them or azo was bought by them...something like that

and yes they are that dang good...teammate throws the new standard, yeah baby, and absolute power...yeah baby is only great IN OIL...doesnt do a whole lot in meds to lights

IME the Lane Masters balls are as good as the people throwing them.

I crossed with one of their staffers in a Sport condition scratch tournament last Fall, and he lapped the field using a Big Kahuna.

There's a guy in our league (pretty much a THB) who has a New Standard, and it looks awful in his hands.

I'll grant that this isn't much of a sample, but there you have it.

yes i have to say that these balls are good. The reason? well its easy. Lane Masters/Legends is a small company that uses the best of the best resins and particles. Most of the major companies, storm, bruns, hammer, ebo, track, they all test their bowlingballs with the high grade resins and particles and then move down to a cheaper version to make a profit. These balls from Lane Masters that are sold to the publis all have the high grade resins and particles in them. This is one reason that they are so good. The company puts time, effort, money into making balls that will last long, work good, and are very predictable. I also think they are more pricy than that of the other companies but you get a better made bowling ball so it is worth it.

On a 1 to 1 basis, I would say they are superior to most other brands SOLELY because, when used on a condition even remotely close to what they were intended for, they are almost faultless balls, given some intelligence by the user. Legends has yet to put a ball that is, let's call it, "iffy". Al;most every other manufacturer, trying to be all things to all people, have several balls that make you wonder long and hard, "how do I use that ball, on what condition, how would I drill it, and why won't it work?" Legends' balls, so far, seem to have avoided that "trap".

All 3 balls I have and several others I have seen are usable across a relatively wide range of conditions in their box conditions.

I'm not sure what makes a resin premium and what makes another resin less premium, but Lanemasters/Legends use the same "premium" resin from the core all the way to the surface. Most other companies use a cheaper filler from the core's surface to about 3/4- 1" from the final ball's surface; then they use their "premium" resin to the surface. I assume this is part of what gives L/L their astounding hitting power. That said, I have found other balls equal to L/L's hitting power: notably an Intense Inferno and a CrunchTime. The 2 newest Morich's, the WMB and the  Shock & Awe (the Intense's coverstock) hit very hard. There may be others; I do not know every ball, obviously.

And, no, it's not just entry angle that give a ball "hitting power". Legends/Lanemasters ball sound different from every other ball's hit that I have ever heard.

Legends/Lanemasters owns AZO's manufacturing facilities; I assume that's where they make them, BY HAND, one at a time. They are currently targeting the manufacture of 80 balls per day, versus thousands per day by Brunswick's, Storm's and Columbia's standards.
