Anybody ever heard of a ball named P-7
« on: March 05, 2010, 06:55:54 AM »
Last night, through some odd circumstances, our lanes ended up REALLY REALLY dry. After they got to the point that even my Orbit Extreme was burning up, I ran out of options and was actually heading for the houseball rack.

A friend of mine said, "I've got that old red ball in my bag tonight that has the big thumghole in it". Not knowing what ball he meant, I checked it out.

It was shiny and red. The logo is a shield shaped insignia with the letters P-7 inside it. There is a pin in the label, a label which looked like a very stylized P-7.

It was a little long, and the ball was heavy, but I was desperate and the thumb fit, so what the heck. Ball totally ignored the dry heads, went about 50ft, then hooked/snapped just enough to hit the pocket and strike.

Used it in the second frame to double, spare, double, spare, turkey/spare the tenth and save a 200 game.

I think it must be urethane, and I remember bowlingballreviews trying to find info on it once, but nobody seemed to know anything other than it was made by someone out in California I think, and was supposed to have a 7 piece weightblock?

There was a line called Paramount? that I thought was made by Sports Tec, but I don't see them in the link.  They had a gray pearl and a red one that were popular in the late 90's.  My gray had a large P symbol, but don't remember a number with it off hand.

I had one of these! It is a regular urethane ball with a seven piece core, hence P-7. I think it was made by a company with three initials, like JPF or JPL, something like that. The damn thing would flare 7-8 inches and was really a little ahead of it's time and people really didn't know a lot about it. If it's a 15 lb'er, I'd buy it off him in a second.
