what's going on??????
« on: May 11, 2011, 03:01:02 PM »
From the "for sale" forum it seems if everybody wants to sell their latest balls.   Is this from "dissatisfaction"?????     Don't see many "older" balls for sale.    Seems as if BR needs to turn into a FS forum.

I hate to tell you this but this not even close a new thing. It has been going like that for years. You have to remeber that some of the guys selling the gear are pro shop owners. Also alot of bowlers me included don't put much more that 50 games on a ball before getting rid of it. That would be the ball of the month club members.

Their might be some people not quite satisfied with a product but for the most part I think it is for reasons mentioned above.

Great point from Mainzer here on this topic. I have worked and competed in the bowling ball business now for over 13-14 years. Within this short so it seems time span, I have owned I would say anywhere from 1500-2000 bowling balls. People like me help others understand more about what they need and basically its all about product demonstration.

The technology of bowling balls have come so far in the past decade that yeah bowling talent has gone to the dumps, for the equipment in todays market gives them either the advantage or disadvantage when it comes down to it in competition, etc. I have been known to drill up 20-25 bowling balls at one time. Dont think for one second that I need such a number of balls... Its basically my only hobby and I enjoy every minute of it just like the next person.

I had my own shop wouldnt long ago, so of course that made drilling many balls so much easier and key word "affordable". If I only went through brick and mortal pro shops then this 2000 ball inquiry would have never been possible, well because I couldnt afford them, etc. I have learned like alot of other on here, that buying a used ball is like buying a car with 50-80,000 miles on them. "IN PRIME CONDITION AND WITH A COMPETITIVE PRICE POINT". Unfortunately bowling balls devalue more so than some of the things like I just mentioned.

I have been one of the few people on here, that has not been shafted by a ballreview member fortunately. If you are still reading my post here, then you realize now that I dont believe in (((BALL DEATH)))! If a ball is maintained properly then that so called ball death will never occur. So YES buying used balls is an amazing thing, especially when they can say 70% or more then if bought new. The beauty of this is finding people on here that have the same span and maybe even the same shape in hand, so it cost mearly a few dollars to get fitted! Now I can go on and on about a topic like this, but what it boils down to, is "having so many bowling balls is fun and can be exciting upon release". I know this was so long but I just wanted to give you insite on why you should not be affraid to buy a used bowling ball. Thanks, John
