On Clash of Champoins what did you think of..

what did you think of Adam Martinez? a right-handed bowler who throws a back-up ball. I would think the coaches would have got him away from bowling that way. he might be good at it, I would think over time it wouldn't be good for your joints or your game.

the same thing was said about jamie foster and brian valenta being two handed when they made team usa. Why change the style that got you where you are. It works for him, that's all that matters

The game is about repeatability. If you can repeat from the "wrong" side (and this kid obviously could to qualify for this tournament; they didn't just pick him out of the crowd), more power to you.

I've seen people move the ball more than he did. I've bowled against a true backup cranker before and he ate my lunch.

I do think there is some degree of worry over his wrist health, though.

You know, its highly unorthodox, and not recommended, but honestly how can you argue with winning Junior Gold in 2007?

you have to admire lucy sandelin after what she has been through. as a cancer survivor bowling means very little in the grand scheme of things. to her the competition was a bonus.

I'm a lefty...can beat 75% of the righty's posting here throwing it back-up...IF NEED BE....

Robert Smith....(perhaps you've heard of him...if you haven't...you belong on on the IGNORE LIST)...won the Japan cup 2 yrs. ago...throwing back-up the last 8 games...this after all lefty's were gone...VERY AWESOME UNDER-RATED FEAT if you ask me!

So yeah...the back-up style does have it's uses!

bowled in a tourney a couple of years ago...(maybe longer) guy threw 300 - 816 doing the same thing.

He picked either side of the lane depending on what he thought was better that day.

Mostly bowls on the right side now in tournies throwing traditional hook.

Jason Hurd led a regional event, I believe in Jacksonville, Fl, throwing it back-up. From what I hear, it was really amazing.

  • Don't blame the lanes, blame the bowler! Adjust!
