Anybody Know What This Is?

Hey Bowlers of the Universe,

Has anybody seen this?

http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc10/n00dlejester/Bowling/1229092250a.jpg

Someone in league last winter had it, and it was a fantastic tool to use to add some more slide-y-ness to my slide shoe.  I'm looking to get one, but can't find it anywhere

Any information would be awesome.

Thanks!

The side you rub on your shoe looks like soapstone, which you can probably get at your pro shop. I have never seen it with a wood back, most of the time it is sold in small sticks!

Yeah some of the ladies came back from their nationals with these for their slide sole. They said this was the only thing approved for them to use on their slide sole, cause they weren't allowed to use easy slide powder!

They're new and haven't been released to the public yet. Probably why you can only get them at Nats.

One of my local pro shops has been carrying these things for about a year now.  They gave me one to take with me to Vegas last year at Nationals just in case because they said you were allowed to use it on your shoes there.  I have been using it regularly since then -- it's fantastic for getting rid of some tackiness without making everything "slippery."  And it does not wear off after just a few shots either, which is very nice.

If it is truly soapstone, you can buy it all day at a welding shop. We used it to mark lines on steel I-beams prior to cutting them with torches.

I have been using soap stone on both my shoes and thumb for a few years now. It doesn''''''''t build up or become sticky from humidity like easy slide does plus when applied to shoes and/or thumb it stays consistant from shot to shot and not slick the first time and less each time after like easy slide does.

What I do is take 3-4 sticks of the same type soap stone that welders use and scrub it on a wood rasp which creates powder. I can do enough to fill an asprin bottle in 10-15 minutes and it will last me for 2+ seasons or more bowling twice a week as it takes such a tiny bit each time a person uses it.

Nice, I'm glad you guys know.  The gentleman at league who has this said he got it years ago out at Vegas for nationals.

I'll be sure to let him know it's soapstone and share these places to get it.  Thanks guys!

Looks like soapstone to me too.  I keep a stick of it in my bowling bag for emergencies.
