ball drilling
« on: July 04, 2010, 12:37:20 PM »
Since i have just started to drill my own stuff i decided to get all my balls together and measure them against my drill sheet measurements and i noticed that only a couple of them actually match and all balls were drilled by same person...anyone else ever run into that

Unfortunately, that is pretty common.

Another reason for buying the KMT Personal Ball Jig.  Drill them yourself!  www.kmtballjig.com .

Yeah, I think this is all too common. I have since changed shops and no longer run into this problem.

I noticed thr same thing since I also recently started drilling my own balls. They weren't off by much, maybe a 1/16 and they all felt good.I've discovered that the art of putting gripping holes in a bowling ball is an inexact science.

i measured my middle finger hole to hole and on my favorite ball its 4 3/8 and i found a bunch of balls that were 4 1/4 then some were right on the middle finger but off on the ring finger...

I had this problem until I switched drillers a few years back, I always wondered why I'd clear ball X a little better than ball Y and this one just felt better than that one.
