Hopefully if it's still around I would like to join this league but since I'm already committed to two other leagues, I don't know if I want to fork out more money per week for another league.
Anyways, I do enjoy the practice on Sunday mornings so far. My alley on certain lanes will lay out the PBA shot for the upcoming league. So far I've only got to play Shark twice and was a real eye opener what heavy and flat oil means. I had to play a inside tight line with areas on the lane the size of a penny. Eventully after shooting 150 and 170 games I figured it out and shot some decent low 200 games but nothing jaw dropping. I actully could get decent carry if I hit my mark decently and had some room if I pulled it a tad on the left but if I pulled in to the right it was gone. Getting a double on this condition is like a six pack in a league short crowned house shot.
This sunday I got there before they opened hoping they would lay out something different. I don't have the sheet but overheard the laneman it was the Cheetah. So right away I try to stand right as I do anyways and toss it outside. Nothing came back outside of 10 and there was no friction, no hook, no nothing outside of this no matter the release. So I thought there was no way this was the Cheetah and I played inside and unlike the Shark the ball was more difficult to rev up in the middle but would react on certain spots in the middle of the lane. One board right was the difference of hitting the 1-3 or the 6 pin. A couple boards left of this was brooklyn or a split. After moving all over the place in the middle I figured if I reved it hard but controllable I could get it to read on the heads and set it into the pocket. After 20 games on this the oil didn't break down much. Towards the last few games I went back to experimenting outside and stood on 10 and figured out if I got it out on the lane far enough without having to loft it in the air I could get the ball to react nice but I still have to hit 2nd arrow out to 13, a very, very direct line.
So seeing the Cheetah pattern as a spectator on the tour and seeing it in this league and bowling on it was apples and oranges. I'm guessing without proof it was not the Cheetah layed out but either the Scorpion or Viper. Definitly not the Shark again. Chameleon I know nothing about because i get a different story from each person I talk too. If this is the Cheetah, this was much harder then the Shark I bowled on. I know stripping and double stripping play a huge role and my house doesn't strip between every application so who knows what the laneman put out there. What you think? For those that bowl on this league are you sure they are putting the pattern out correctly and even putting out the pattern it is scheduled to be?
