Hi everyone,
I'm heading up to the Geico Classic this weekend for the Pro-Am and was wondering if anyone had bowled on the Cheetah pattern. I'm just trying to get an idea of what to expect. I've read the PBA description, but I was thinking of feedback from the roomies here at BR from a more personal point of view. I have some specs in my profile if you're wondering what kind of bowler I normally am. Thanks in advance for your responses!!

If I could hit my target every time. I`d be pretty damn good!

Pro Ams typically bowl on the house shot and not the PBA pattern used during the tournament.

Hmmm, guess I'll find out soon. I had heard that they used the same pattern as the tournament so the Pros could use the Pro-Am as practice time on the proper pattern... But then again, it was only hearsay. Lol.

In past years, they have used the house shot for our pro-ams at Vernon Hills. This year, however, they put out the PBA pattern (Scorpion). I don't know if that is a decision made by the center or the PBA.
If it ends up being Cheetah, it plays on the gutter. Get it outside of three for your breakpoint, and you can light 'em up.
Either way, have fun!

crap man no pro am player gets to see the cheetah, they put the easiest wall out there possible to hell the juniors... If ur good u shuldnt be bowling in it anyways!!!!!!! THIS IS FOR KIDS TO GET TO MEET PROS LOL

LOL, John D. The tourny I'm in has a $1k payout for the Adult Division (based on 200 entries). I'm pretty sure that part's not for the kids.

FWIW, at our pro-ams at the Chicago Classic back in November, the Scorpion pattern was used for all the pro-ams, including the junior pro-am. In fact, the junior travel league was in our center that Saturday, and the league bowled on the Scorpion pattern with a PBA pro on each pair of lanes with the junior bowlers. I thought that was a really nice touch.

Thruway Lanes has some "naturally high scoring" tendencies....excellent condition synthetics, lively kickers, etc. The Western NY High School Championships are held there yearly, and scores tend to be on the high side for most of the youths.
During the 1st block this morning there was all kind of equipment being used, and every imagineable line played, although no one was in front of a ball return or "capping" the gutters.

It was THC at Alabama a few weeks back, at least in Vestavia, which was an alternate house (but I think all the houses were on the same shot). I spoke to the house manager and it sounds like the decision lies with the house. I was hoping for the PBA pattern, myself, but the manager told me, "There's no way I want my bowlers complaining if I make the pro-am hard."
They didn't even have the foul lights on, so people could use flash cameras.
