There are more and more efforts to get coaches trained on how to properly service the needs of two-handed players. My guess would be any USBC-certified coach who feels comfortable working with younger two-handed bowlers would also be able to help a senior who wants to give it a shot. I would check with coaches in your area to see who has experience. Even if the ones around you don't, they can probably refer you to somebody that can help.

Yes/well no....

I told my son to start throwing that way again!  Like he used to!

After a few weeks he had a 799 no tap set which we estimated was about 745 real bowling.  278 final game REAL!  Little son of a gun!

Here's what I told him.....stand over there(left)....and throw over there(right)!

If there is a crown....bring it on!

I work with a Silver Certified coach about 4-6 times a year.

I'm surprised that videos of the timing, are on youtube, or USBC vids?

I think the timing and torque on your body is different....
If you wear your body out, bowling one way...when you hit 50-60 learn a new way?

Learning that two handed style myself, and being a student of the game, I feel I could get someone started in the right direction...

I imagine you would have to find your own timing, speed, etc.
Just like Classic one hand bowling?

It would take some relaxed practice?

The timing is pretty similar to one handed bowling.  Push away on second step of 5 step approach, etc.  To compensate for the lower backswing, I use a skip step like Belmonte.

Best advice is practice, get on video, and make sure your swing plane is straight.

Weird you should mention this...

While at a tournament in Europe this month my girlfriend started to feel a lump at the base of her thumb, and after just 3 games in her first squad she was in agony, so didnt bowl for the 2 weeks we were away...

So, when we got back she thought she would try two handed!

So we went bowling last night and I tried to "coach" her a little at it... I can do it fairly well, but thats all I could bring to the session!

It is SOOO different to regular bowling, it was very hard to coach... all I could tell her was its more like throwing a rugby ball than a bowling ball...

I think it will take some more work!

I'm sorry guys but whats the point of throwing 2 handed? just because someone tried it and has success to it doesn't mean everyone has to do it. if something wrong with your bowling arm or something switch. or if theres something wrong where you can't use your bowling arm well swithc hand. might take a while to perfect it but why use two hands?

what? for extra revs? why need extra revs if that's your intention. i just don't understand. why teach someone to do that? like in basketball. a coach don't coach a player to shoot left handed if he's a right handed or vise versa. yeah they incourage dribble left handed but not shoot. i don't get it.

How about 12-13 lbs...to start?
Help keep the muscle out of the swing?
So you don't have to deal w / tendon damasge 10+ years down the road.

why..?? are they going to start teaching to throw the ball through your legs too..??

The two handed technique is nothing more than a modified no thumb toss..

It will never be as accurate and as good as the right way to bowl.

He tore up the Aussie house shot competitions.. yay!!!

Dang.. I'm sounding like a big hater.. don't want to do that ..
I do hate the two handed toss though...

She usually uses 14s, but has a 12lb spareball... so she brought that up to try, along with her old 10lb ball... both were a little heavy!

8lb ball wasnt bad, but 6lb was the trick!

Personally I switched because I couldn't get the pain of a tendon in my thumb/wrist to go away.  This was after multiple trips to doctors, shots to the wrist area, etc.  I could not pick up a ball with my thumb in it.  Bowling two handed was a way to bowl pain free.

Also, many people might choose to bowl two handed because they enjoy it.  Bowling is supposed to be fun right?  A lot of people like to watch pins fly around.  Not everyone has dreams of joining the PBA one day.

Also, 90% of the people on this board bowl ONLY house shots... where the extra power is probably more beneficial than the accuracy.
