Hey all, wondering if any of you drill your own stuff and what you use to drill with. I have a regular drill press but I bought a professional ball jig from a proshop thats closing in my area. My buddy bought everything else from him so I have means to check static weights on the ball also. He had already sold the bits and Im wondering if the bits a unique to bowling. I plan to take some drilling coarses if nothing else it will be fun to experiment. The sad part is, its a sign of the times, another shop closing. we always bought there cause it was in our house. You would think the bowling center would do what it could to keep the shop there. Hopefully the center isnt going out, that would be a shame. If my buddy and I thought we could keep our day jobs and run the pro shop we would. We wouldnt need to support our families off of it, and hopefully sooner or later the center could find someone interested in the business.

I quit counting when I hit the 10,000 drilled mark and that was a few years ago.  I trained my replacement and retired 3 years ago.  I still advise and work with several area pro shops but I drill my own equipment and some for teammates at my home.   Good bits are a must and can run $30+ each.  If you have a k-mart in your area, check with the manager.  Many of them used to drill balls in the 1980's-early 90's and have the equipment just laying around in storage.  When the one closed in our area, the drill press, jig, bits, and Brunswick measuring ball sold for $350 total.
