Anyone else do this?
« on: July 15, 2003, 10:18:10 PM »
OK, here's the situation.  Last week I struggled.  Shot like 220, then 160, then 230, then 170 (no consistency whatsoever).  Got fed up, disgusted, and spent the whole week not even thinking about bowling.  Then came last night.  I didn't really feel like going to the lanes, but in the first 3 of 4 games, I came within 9 pins of my personal best (had 739) and shot 200 even the last game (with 2 opens).  When I shot my highest (a 748, 10 LONG years ago), I remember that I didn't want to go that night either - just didn't feel like bowling.  However, I find when I'm all ready to go and looking forward to it, I have the worst nights.  Why is this?  Does anyone else experience this, or do I need to spend the rest of my life seeing a shrink?

Funny that you write a post about this. I have been pondering this very though myself for quite sometime. Although my scores arent as high yet, but whenever I really cant wait to get to the lanes to bowl, I choke!! On the days I dont feel like doing it and look at it as more of a chore, I am on fire. Take my past two weeks. I average 180 on Monday night. Last week didnt wanna bowl at all, first day back from vacation and all that, shot 669. This past Monday, was looking forward to it after a good night the week before, shot like 520 or something horrible. Your not the only one!!

I knew a guy here that walked into a center one day feeling sick, wanted nothing to do with being in a bowling center.  But, he did not want to let his team down.  He proceeds to go 257-267-277=801.  It was his first 800.  Funny thing, was he was playing a card game.  He did not win one single game shooting 801.  Other nights, I feel your pain.  When I feel psyched and put myself in brackets, I always seem to shoot bad and win nothing.  The nights I don't seem to care, someone else puts me in and I walk out with a couple hundred dollars in my pocket.  Go figure.

I feel the same way.  Last night, I felt really great, and bowled above my average the first game only.  Today, I feel like crap and want to stay home (but I won't), so I'll probably bowl better tonight.
