Anyone else feel this way?
« on: November 17, 2003, 08:37:53 PM »
I'm not going to go into the whole easy shot / hard shot argument here, but I'm tired of the same exact shot from week to week, house to house.  OK, so maybe they don't need to put out a hard shot, but let's change it up and keep the game exciting.  Let's do a combination of patterns, all scorable but requiring some slight adjustments and different lines compared to the usual pattern.  Anyone else tired of the same ol' same ol' every week?

I would LOVE to see the same ole shot week to week.
On Tuesday and Thursday (different houses), they're close week to week. Totally different from each other, but close.
On Monday, the shot is completely different from one week to the next.
On Wednesday - it's like a travel league without the driving.

Haven't seen that in so long it would shock me.

REgards,

PS due to plastic leagues in front of our high level handicap.  Lanes all over the place.  One pair 800s and 7s and high 6s the norm another pair noone with a game over 205 the whole night and one 600.  An adventure!

Here in the greater detroit area we only have a few
places like the ones you describe Wiggle, Heck if a
guy shoots 780 one week he will be lucky to shoot 6
the next!

After reading some replies, I think I prefer the idea of the house charting the shot (probably using a colored graph of the lane to show heavier oil, like the weather radars use to show heavier rain) and using the same pattern for 3 or 4 weeks to give us a chance to actually learn something and apply what we've learned.  I agree that changing the shot week to week would probably result in a crap shoot, and would probably confuse and upset most league bowlers.  Thanks for the insight.  Any other ideas/opinions?

There's a bunch of us who are hopefully founding a PBA-pattern league starting in January and then bowling a 36-week session next fall.  We'll bowl on a different PBA pattern each week.  Should make things more competetive and force you to play lines you wouldn't necessarily play.  I'm looking forward to it!
