Anyone ever heard of this?
« on: June 21, 2008, 05:54:13 AM »
Waiting on a ball to be shipped to me from another BR member.  Should have been here yesterday and I checked this afternoon and this is what the UPS website listed:

 Package Progress
Location    Date    Local Time    Description
GREENSBORO,
NC,  US    06/19/2008    5:00 P.M.    NATURAL DISASTER

Anyone ever heard of this?  Does this mean there was a wreck or an actually natural disaster no one heard about?

Not really sure, but there has been some bad weather in that part of the country lately, hasn't there?

Last year, fed-ex delayed a delivery to my house from the terminal 70 miles away from me for 3 days due to a "snowstorm".  Problem is, I am a delivery truck driver myself and had a route that went to the town the fed-ex terminal is in and there WAS NO SNOWSTORM, not even a flurry.  It was just cold and dreary and the lazy aZZ driver just didn't want to drive an extra 15 miles that day.

Good luck.  Shippers pretty much can say anything when a package is delayed cause all they have to do is say sorry when you call and complain.

It might refer to the flooding in the midwest (Iowa, Illinois, Missouri). If your ball had to cross the Mississippi by truck, it may be delayed as a number of the bridges have been closed for a couple of days.

Watch the discovery channel.

Greensboro, NC was LEVELED by an f5 tornado.  There is a TV show about the rebuilding.

I live 15 minutes from Greensboro.  Nothing happening here.  Depending on the route, maybe it's delayed because of the mid west flooding as others suggested.

I do a lot of shipping through UPS and FEDEX.  The package probably was shipped through ground service, this is there loophole as to not being able to guarantee the package there by a certain day or within a reasonable amount of time by stating that the package is delayed by a Natural Disaster.

I know there were some serious wildfires in a couple different places in NC. We were in VA beach last week and some mornings you could barely see the ocean for all the smoke. Don,t know if this has anything to do with it but could be.
