well the idea of making lanes where the heads are slick by themselves imho isn't such bad idea in the first place... but you need oil even in the areas that are "dry"... believe me there is no real dry except the "backend"...... other's know better than me and will correct me for sure.

Just imagine a lane built out of PTFE... the must "unsticky" "plastic" availiable

Now someone comes with a high load particle... and dang... its torn apart.

There is a saying on Germany... :
"Mit'n Öl nicht sparen!"
freely translated
"Don't sting oil!"
(ok it has it's origin from the Bikers and Car fanatics... but it is so true )

I agree the idea of oil-less lanes would be the best thing to ever happen in bowling but having an air hockey heads to the lane. Boy I find that funny.

"Oil-less" was the way bowling used to be -- It's called lacquer, and before that, shellac. One problem with lacquer though -- it's highly flammable.

...err...bowling was so much better WAY back in the day...like 1920...

Brunswick saw the writing on the wall for this method of lane conditioning.  It's the primary reason for the elimination of the "Inferno" line as to not cteate widespread panic within bowling establishments.

230,

Could you explain your statement? I'm not sure what you mean but would be interested in hearing about it. Thanks.

It's a joke!

'Inferno line', 'lacquer / flammable lane'

It's a joke, he's saying the Inferno line was flammable, the reason why Brunswick discontiunued them

I don’t agree though, cos I’m a ball junkie and like the different challenges lane conditions provide.

Oil-less lane?!? What am I going to do with my 20+ balls?!?

Tony, didn't mean to stir the pot too much.  Just thought I'd try to start the work week off with a smirk.
