Hammer Big Blue
« on: April 09, 2004, 09:48:47 AM »
Has anyone wondered why this ball doesn't have a higher differential in it?  I have the Bbig Blue Pearl and love this ball.  I think if they raised the diff. to say maybe .045 or .050, it would make a tremendous move on the back.  I was shocked when it first came out and looked at the core shape, then looked the low .026 diff on it.  I thought about drilling a 13# BBP, just for the .055 diff on it.  If the densities were changed and made a dual density or triple density core, this ball could become a POWERHOUSE, or even just a core in a core type of design, or a high density puck inside the inner core main body.  These are just thoughts I have had, and yes I do understand that this is a particle ball, and a higher flare potential might make this ball too much, or too little.  I just try and think of ways to improve certain designs in balls and cores, some of which were used in previous balls, but I don't want to say that I thought of that core, this ball; but I could .  Let me know what you think of this post though, I would love to get a response, opinions or comments.

Very very good topic... I am actually really intrigued by ball design I just wish I knew more about it so I could have an intelligent conversation with you.  I just started bowling in February so I am still picking up on all the little details of the game.  I'll be sure to follow this post though .

I think it would have harmed the orginal intention of this ball....recreating the orginial blue hammer for people who loved it. i loved it. i just ordered one for the sake, but if they altered the orginial big blue at first, it wouldnt be a big blue. it might have been some viscous i dunno. hehe

woops. i slipped on seeing pearl, but still in the same sense. I should also add.....this is prolly the first ball combo i have ever seen to have 2 balls so different. every solid/ eventual pearl combos have been the same ball essentially. one dull, and the same one polished. The pearl is nothing like the big blue and i love that...adds versatility. diff change? i think they coulda used it in the pearl..maybe a lil less control? who knows.

Skeglesswonder....good point.  I never did think of the intent Hammer Bowling had for the Big Blue.  Also another good point,"I should also add.....this is prolly the first ball combo i have ever seen to have 2 balls so different. every solid/ eventual pearl combos have been the same ball essentially. one dull, and the same one polished. The pearl is nothing like the big blue and i love that...adds versatility."  I also have noticed this in quite a few balls.  The regional pro I got my BBP from (thanx Joey) is a Hammer staff member, and you can definitely see the difference between the 2 balls, not like most solid/pearl combos.  The only thing I didn't want to change in this ball is the hitting power.  It hits HARD.

Keep posting replies, I want to hear what you have to say guys/gals
