Need some advice
« on: September 17, 2011, 10:21:16 AM »
Stated bowling again this year and need some advice on what would be a good ball to start out with. The lanes are synthetic and very dry 10 boards and out (nothing at all) and inside is so oily that the ball will not finish at all. I swing the ball and throw pretty hard. If one starts the bowl to soon outside it misses the head pin on the left side. If you move over it will not make it back up to the pocket. Would like to play more in the dry part of the lane if possible. What type of ball should I be looking for and what drilling would be the best. I have not been on a league for about 5 years and when I quit I was at 200+ average. To many balls out there I am confused on where to start.

TB.....if you commit to the ouside, buy a urethane ball.   Good ones out on the market.  If you commit to a swing shot, on the oil , then out to dry at the back, look for a high rg ball, that will give you a good flip at the back.  Sounds like you are playing on extreme wet/dry or Top Hat.    This is the worse condition ever.  The young folks around here, just try to ride the oil line with lots of speed.
