Red, white, and blue oil patterns
« on: January 14, 2010, 07:28:51 AM »
I e-mailed USBC asking where to find the red, white, and blue patterns on their website.  Got a response today that they have just recently been added, the link is below.  --  JohnP

They sure are house patterns.  Can't see any of these doing much to bring scoring integrity.

I don't know, but I e-mailed the person that responded to my original request and asked him.  Will post the info when he responds.  --  JohnP

Here's the response I got.  --  JohnP

John,

I don’t think that information is on the website yet.  If you will email erik.vermilyea@bowl.com, he is the technical guy in the sport department that will be able to help you out.  Let me know if you need any more help.

They did not design these patterns to be hard to hit sport or PBA patterns,
they already have those available

they were designed to more or less bridge the gap between the THS and the PBA and sport patterns

the problem is with people who bowl just average on a house shot they are absolutely terrible on Sport or PBA pattern
thats why the PBA experience leagues have kind of been a flop
there are really no more scratch leagues around (at least by me there are none)
and the guys who think they are good that bowl in these money handicap leagues will not bowl in the PBA experience leagues becuase they dont want to put up low scores and face the fact that they are not as good as they think they are

the league situation and bowling situation right now sucks
its as simple as that
in my area the scratch money leagues are all gone and Im debating whether or not Im going to bowl in any leaguees next year at all
I might just save my weekly league money and work with a once a week and practice another day or two out of the week,
and just bowl in the local money tournaments

so maybe these Red, White, and Blue patterns will give more of an even shot to all the leagues out there and be a small stepping stone to get people interested in bowling in sport leagues, and PBA type pattern leagues

I think its worth a shot for the USBC to try if they stay on top of the centers and make sure they are putting out the correct shot
