1.5-2" pin

Would this pin discourage you from buying/drilling a ball? Why or why not?

The only reason I would not buy a ball with this length pin would be if I needed a very specific drilling that the shorter pin would not allow, such as putting the pin well above the midgrip for someone that has a longer span. This length pin will allow many options of "typical" drillings.

Agreed.  Unless you've got an unusual layout in mind, like one with a real short pin buffer or the pin high above the fingers, so long as the top weight is reasonable there's very little you can't do with that ball.

I'd only worry if it were 1" or less, or 4" or more.
Heck, If I want to put the pin under the ring finger or the bridge area, 2" is IDEAL!

golfnutFL...

I can drill a ball for my wife who has a fairly short span 4 3/16 and
4 1/8 cut to cut and still get the pin just over the fingers. I still like to get a pin for her at least 3" and 3"-3.5" because you have a lot more options.
I am not sure about a Rico drill I have not used that for a long time.
The Pin under fingers just does not work for me so I won't buy a ball that has a pin below 3". A good ball driller can make a shorter pin work fine. Some bowlers have good sucess with pin under fingers and want it that way.
