i need a dry lane ball, thinking of maybe a hammer urethane, might snap too hard though if theres too much carry down. big hit might work, but from what i hear, the big hits don't hit big after a few dozen rolls. any recommendations? i play mostly on a house shot pattern A with synthetic lanes, they're re-doing 'em, but i don't know what they're gunna be (synthetic i would think).

anyone else live in las vegas? great town, IF your over 21 unlike me.

i'll look into these balls, i think i'll end up going with either a monster line ball or a urathane hammer, i wish every ball was as good looking as the big blue pearl... I WANT ONE SO BADLY, but i already have about 6 heavy oil balls

I can't imagine what you are talking about. Urethane is all about arc, not snap. Urethane certainly won't snap in carrydown. Even resin struggles to bite through carrydown.

I've never heard of Big Hit's dying quickly. That phenomenon is usually reserved for high performance balls, either aggressive reactive resin or higher load particles.

You either play on a house shot (what 80% of us probably see) or PBA pattern A. There are no names for different house shot variations. Some oil 5-5, 7-7, etc, but that's the only way they are known.

Anyway... A lot will depend on your definition of dry, and your physical game. If you mean light oil or if you're a stroker, you could want a Sonic X, Barrage, Slay/R, Wild, Big Hit, or Dry Heat. If it's a little dryer or if you turn the ball a bit more, you might want a urethane Gargoyle or XXL. If you mean bone dry or you're a cranker, the plastic XXXL might be your best choice.

I just got myself a Brunswick Power Groove. I drilled it with the pin and CG below the bridge to pretty much have the ball go pretty long and just turn a little in the back. It does great, even on high-friction lane surfaces. You might want to give it a try.

Based on the responses in this thread, I'd have to say everyone has a different definition of "dry". (sounds like a new thread to me... stay tuned!)

mumzie is so correct about how dry is dry.

So I can only say something about the Big Hit, I dont have one but my friend has one and used it for the whole winter season, and got 2 300s with it, at a house I will say light light oil, but I won't say its dry dry.
