Post by: splitcity on August 08, 2006, 06:20:00 AM
yea you could start the night off with bowling, gradually get drunk and when your too drunk to bowl head to the dance club area to pick up women, located in the other part of the bowling alley! would it be a bowling alley with a club in it? or a club with a bowling alley in it? yes im bored.still a good idea i think. maybe already is one.

Why not just do Cosmic or Rock-n-Bowl, and get both at the same time?

An alley I worked at as a kidused to have a roller skating rink upstairs and 32 lanes downstairs.Bowling was distracting at times with all the noise.
Someone finally bought out the place and turned the upstairs into another 32 lanes.

Splitcity, I'm not sure, but I think I read that someone is putting in centers exactly like that.

About 20 years ago, Mayfair lanes in Portland, Oregon was bought out by a Chinese Restaurant and night club.  No more bowling per say, but the old lanes served as a Dance Floor (pretty cool).  I can imagine that kids probably dreamed up a new dance called the "shadow bowl".

Actually one of the houses where a 900 has been shot was a bowling alley/club. Vince Wood's 900 was at, what was then Cadillac Bowl, and had a nice night club to it. The owners took care of the club more than the alley and through the years they lost many bowlers and eventually closed for a bit. Some new owners bought it about almost a year ago, and changed the name of the lanes to ABC Bowl, and also changed the club into more of a sports club. It is really nice inside and they seem to care more about the actually bowling part now, but with the reputation the place has, it still is not doing to well.

The old Don Carter's in Dallas had lanes and a disco/country bar upstairs depending on the time frame.  Saw a lanes/roller rink combo in Florida a couple of years ago.  There is a lanes/movie theatre combo outside Austin Texas.  And my favorite was a center in Denver that had lanes/olympic swimming pool/mini golf and games.

There is a Bowling Center being built somewhere in Washington that is supposed to have a separate area with lanes for leagues and another for cosmic.  There are also places to eat, and arcade.  I can't remember all the details but is is Big Al's.

I'm not sure about the dance club, but it seems like they want to get you there and keep you there.

In Fort Wayne, they're also building an alley that's supposed to have that kind of atmosphere and plus some stuff for the kids too. I've seen the blueprints of it and it's going to be very nice once they're done with it by the end of this year. It's going to have 20-26 lanes on one side of the building, 12-18 lanes on the other side for private parties. 10 lanes for 'mini-bowling' for the kids. Think of it as Chuck-E-Cheese, a night club, and a bowling alley put together on a possible two story building.

Cadillac Bowl actually got so bad that they put plywood down over the lanes and held raves there...

It closed when the roof over the bar caved in...

We've got a bowling alley similar to what you're saying around here. I've never been to it at night, but on the radio it's always advertised as "more like a night club than a bowling alley." It's called Sparetimes, located in Norfolk, VA. The lanes are pretty nice though, they just renovated everything in the past year.

Bowl-A-Vard lanes here in Madison, WI is built that way. You have the lanes, then you enter a bar area with TV's, games like darts, pool, Golden Tee, etc. and then you can go from that bar into a night club area with a separate bar, dance floor, dj area, and more pool tables. I haven't been over in the night club area for a long time, but it used to be pretty fun to do just what you were talking about. =)

The new bowling center will be built up north in the Dupont/Lima Rd. area in Fort Wayne. I normally bowl at Village Bowl for league but this may be my last year in Fort Wayne since I'm moving to Muncie or Anderson in June. I'm hoping to go up there and check it out before I leave.

I've actually been there to hang out with a few pals. The chicks are decent, and it's a fun atmosphere.

In Nashville at the Opry Mills Mall, there is a place called Dave and Buster's -- used to be a Jillian's -- that is a combination Habachi restaurant, bar/club and then there's this place divided off right in the middle of it all that has 16, I think, lanes and is full-time cosmic bowling. You can walk right off the approach and you're at a bar. I can't imagine how bad the lanes really are.

Walk out of the place the other way, and you're in one of the biggest high-end malls in the region.
