Chuck Lande Interview in BJI
« on: August 05, 2009, 07:47:57 AM »
Anybody read the article?  Lately listening to USBC, they act like two handed bowling is recent and the greatest thing since the fork.  I've known Chuck for quite a few years and back in the 80's the word was that he was the greatest thing since the fork.  Two handed bowling was going to revolutionize the sport!  It's a shame he had to put up with so much crap and now the two handed bowlers are being flashed about like they are gods.  Doesn't seem fair.

There were two constants in bowling back then...Smurf (Marc Laracuente) was DA BOMB with the Blue Dot and Chuck could make the Pink Hammer do things with that two handed release of his that I don't think even Faball knew were possible...

ETA: Yes, before anyone mentions it, I know Smurf was not using a two-handed style.  However, both were known in their own respective right for being extremely talented.

I was lucky enough to bowl leagues back then with Chuck, Del Ballard, Chris Warren and watch Dino Castillo learn to bowl like doing piano lessons!  We bowled a league that had a team made up of Chuck Lande, Dino Castillo and the late Craig Hoyle.  For those that did not know Craig, he invented a lot of bowling technology and died way before his time.  I got to see this every week for years.  It's all of a sudden "WOW this is revolutionary!", please.  No it's just marketing.
