Anyone know of John Handegard?
« on: April 15, 2005, 07:07:02 AM »
He's an ex-Senior PBA member. He drilled my wife's bowling ball for her and has been giving me some tips on my game. I'm a new bowler and am pretty pleased to have a little help from a guy who knows his stuff. Anyone heard of him or remember him?

Yeah, John's great. I talked to him at the Masters. He's been a staple on the Senior tour over the past years. He's defenitely a classic. Good thing you're hooked up with him.

I believe he had some success on the Senior Tour in the early '90's.  I want to say he won his first title in Hammond, Indiana, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Nice guy, isn't he Driller? He did say that this is likely his last year bowling competitively. He was throwing a Cherry Bomb most of the time I saw him.

John can play. He dominated the Senior tour for a while, and is actually in the books as the oldest PBA player to win a regular tour stop (if the record still holds). I think he won his first National Tour title in his early 50's. I'm not sure how old Schlegel was when he won the TPC in 95.

He's a nice guy and still a great bowler.  I saw him last year bowling state.  I saw him throwing a pearl cherry bomb and an XXL.

MAJOR under statement. He ruled the Senior Tour for 5-8 years, when it first started up. Aggressive, SUPER competitive bowler! Stroker extra-ordinaire.

He was just on this weekends ESPN Classic show (a Senior tourney from '93).  Denny Torgeson, Handegard, Gene Stus and 2 others that I didn't know were on the show.  Handegard beat Torgeson in the 2nd match something like 269-235...Basically went straight up 10 and killed the pocket.  Cool to watch!!
