Anyone know of this anywhere?
« on: January 22, 2004, 10:00:59 PM »
Has anyone on here ever been to a house where they lay down a reverse block all the time? It seems like my house always has a reverse block down. Im not sure if they just started doing this, or if I just never noticed before because I didnt know anything about oil layouts and what not. But does anyone on here go to any houses that have a reverse block down most of the time?

Sure I know of a house that does that.....my house. Well up until yesterday at least....

9 weeks spent trying to figure out what was wrong with the oil machine only to find out it was the stripping machine that was broken. It seems as though each time we "stripped" the lanes, 3-4 units of oil were being left on the outside 7 boards.

So, while it was not intentional, it was still a reverse block for the better part of the season.

Yep I bowl at a house every friday night that puts out the reverse block pattern. They put it out for a calcuta auction sweeper. They put out a different variation every week to keep people from dailing in on it from week to week. Pattern might be longer or shorter, the oil may be lighter or heavier. you never know what its going to be so you have to bring your abc game and different equipment. On a descent night you can make 4-5 hundred on a realy good night you could make a grand or so. Kinda makes league bowling boring at times.

3-4 units from 7 to the gutter?  Sounds like a giant wall unless I'm reading it wrong or you didn't explain it well.  3-4 more units more than the pattern was supposed to have?

Sorry if I didn't explain it very well, but what I meant was that 3-4 units of oil were being left on the outside boards when we thought they were being stripped clean. Therefore, when a pattern was laid down for a league there was already oil on the lane when there shouldn't have been, thus causing a heavier build-up of oil on the outside boards, rather than the standard "wall".

In short, yes, there was 3-4 units more than the pattern should have had.

Sorry for the confusion.
