Anyone know where to get some discontinued stuff?
« on: December 18, 2003, 01:55:46 AM »
Specifically, I'm looking around for undrilled:

Plastic/Urethane:
Yellow Dots, Gold Dots, Knights
Old 2-piece urethane Hammers/Nails (any)

Reactive/Particle:
Original Code Red (nostalgia reasons, my favorite ball ever!)
Track Flare
Original Zone Pro's or Quantums

I'm not saying I want to buy one of every one of these, but I and a few people were wondering where we would start looking to try to find some of this stuff.  Ebay's ok, but there has to be some better sources.

Thanks in advance.
Nate

Ebay has had a number of Gold DOts and tons of old Hammer urethanes over the past few weeks. Even saw a yellow dot last week. also see Danger Zones regularly and other odd zones every once in a while.

BrianN, did you see the Critical Mass that was up a couple days ago?

You might want to contact the seller to see if he has any more.

MadMax can sometimes get some stuff.  Just picked up a NIB Burgandy Hammer and it's really reasonably priced, depending on availability...

Don't know how old you're talking but you mentioned a Knight.

I've got a #14 Don Carter 8573??? 8572??? Can't remember the #s off the top of my head, that I haven't gotten around to drilling.  Been saving it for when I get too old to use these 15#.  Memory is so bad I can't even remember when/why I got it.

SrKegler, if you mean the 8583, that was a Brunswick ball, black rubber, circa 1974.

MI2AZ,  just had the wife check.  This is an Ebonite ball, Don Carter 7582.  Red polyester.

I remember the Brunswick ball you mentioned.

Thanks, keep 'em coming if you have them.

I was kinda hoping to avoid the whole e-bay thing, but it seems like that may be the only place I can get one of the old Hammers or Yellow Dots.

I know I saw a Black undrilled go for $120 a couple weeks ago, I remember the Pink for about 140 or 150?  Blues and Burgundies and Reds are so rare on Ebay though, you have to get real lucky.

Honestly I can't see paying 120 NOT including shipping for a ball I still need to have drilled.  I can go down to the local shop and get a(nother) Black Messenger for that (and select my pin out, etc.)

One more thing... these older balls (especially solid Hammers and Yellow dots... I'd love to have a Gold Dot but can't find them anywhere)... do people pay that much on Ebay to use them or are they buying them as collector's items?
