Anyone remember the ABC Knoxville shot?
« on: June 03, 2005, 08:52:10 AM »
That's the shot that's going out in our sport league starting next week. I've seen the diagram, http://www.bowl.com/images/data/BOWL_MECHANICAL/graphic/2515.GIF
but could use some feedback.

We've been using the 2005 Baton Rouge ABC shot - I LOVE it. I've been playing it at 12-13 at the arrows (depending on # of games), with a laydown point at around 18. Breakpoint is about 8-9, I think, using my Vertigo.

How will the Knoxville shot compare?

It's an 'in the middle' response. That's a lot of oil. I have a feeling it will play more of the lane surface you guys are playing on more than the shape/distance of the pattern. The distance and shape of the two patterns are similar, but there is a little more oil out on the lane. Baton Rouge is 24.00ml (a lot), and the knoxville pattern is 25.00 ml. That will be the determining factor of the pattern. I think that the area will probably be similar to what you guys were playing in the Baton Rouge pattern, but your equipment/coverstock preparation choice will be critical here.

If I remember correctly it was very similar to BR, except it was a little slicker and held up much better.  I used my Duece, sanded to 1000 pretty much the whole 9 games.  That was my best year of the 4 I've gone.
