I do.
I like the extra deflection on the 3-10 splits, etc that a 14 lb. ball provides.

I use 14# for my spare ball. No issues with timimg, and it makes it easier to throw hard without trying.

I use 14# spare too Billy. No problems. I get better speed and more deflection.
The only downfall to the lighter weight is when the lanes get so dry that you have to resort to your spare ball for strikes and you'll lose carry.

I do as well. Had an old 14 pound plastic laying around and I feel like I can roll it with nearly no effort and be much more accurate with it.

Me too! Strike balls are all 15 lbs., but the spare ball is an old Blue Dot (the hard one) at 14 lbs.

I do. Don't have any problems using mine. I mostly use 15# balls and use 14# for lighter conditions.

Me too, I just find it easier to really get on it after 4-5 ten pins a night

Back in "the day" CK Moore would use a 16# strike ball and a 14# conventional grip urethane for spares.

Actually I have a 14# ball for spares, unless I get irritated, then I pull out the 13# Urethane and really wail on it.
