First post here. So what's up guy's? Last night at league another bowler told me I was stupid for using black tape in the front of my thumbhole. I just like the feel myself. It feels like a slug to me and I just use it to take a little space when my thumb is down and take out when swollen. I'm just curious if anyone else uses black in the front? Thanks for any replies.

First off that guy is a d*** LOL tape is all personal preference, if it feels good to YOU, dont worry about it! I personally use white tape in the front of my thumb hole, I like to stay in the ball a little longer, if iI wanted to come out of the ball a little sooner, I would use black tape. Some people only use tape in the back..again its all personal preference

Lol. Thanks guys. I did beat him pretty good last night. He runs the pro shop in the house we bowl league in and has a pretty bad rep. I don't know why I let things like that bother me as I will admit I let stuff like that get in my head pretty easy. He was also mocking me on a couple errant shots that struck. I will admit I'm not the best or most accurate bowler in the world but he really made me feel down on myself last night. Wasn't fun at all. I even went as far as apologizing to they're anchor bowler who by the way was a very nice guy. Told him that I was sorry. For those strikes that he threw it better than I did. I just need to get out of my own way I believe.

phew! I thought you were talking about me since I did this last week during league...with the black tape i kept slippin out of the dang thing too fast and dropping it. I was fine once I took the tape out of the front of thumb. Didnt think I made a big deal of it...but I'm not a pro shop operator...so it's not me...ha!

I use Black tape in the front of the thumb hole and always have. Back before the pre-cut tapes were available I would cut electric tape and use that. Like you I just like the feel and the release I get. Only time I have seen it be a problem is when it gets cold enough my thumb shrinks to the point the tape gets too thick and becomes spongy. The span increases as does the tape as well, but I use a relaxed finger tip so never becomes a real problem.

As far as the goof ball on the other team. A lot of this type comments are made in attempts to get in a bowlers head. Get you thinking about the tape or just pissed and not focusing. Some guys really think they need the advantage they think they can get from this type intimidation. Best way to shut him up is kick his tale on the lanes.
