Solids > Pearls
« on: February 18, 2011, 11:34:02 AM »
I own two pearls, one hybrid, and two solids.  I can kick butt with the hybrid and the solids but never score high with the pearls.  Is it possible that pearl balls just aren't for me?  For the most part I'm a down the 6 board player that will throw farther toward the gutter on the drier days.  I can't get my pearls to get a good angular look in the pocket and it seems like I'm relying on good messengers to knock out the 10 pin.  Is it possible that pearl balls are just not suited toward my game at all?  I'm pretty new back to the game (10 year break), so I want to get good quick!

For starters your not deep enough in the pocket if your leaving flat tens and a messenger is coming across the lane to take it out.  You need to tighten up your angle, maybe take of a little speed, or put the ball down a hair earlier to get friction sooner.  It's never the equipment not matching up with bowlers, it's always user operater error.  You have to adjust to your equipment to make it work for you, not the other way around.  With that in mind, remember with pearls you don't have to force it through the front part of the lanes and it should take less effort to down the lane, focus on accuracy and you should be good to go.  Good Luck and Good Bowling !

i say everything in bowling is a big "depends"

WRW and Norm Duke goes pretty straight as their A game, sometimes its pearl, sometimes its solid, it depends what the lane is telling u and also ur game, rev vs speed.

u might say, ur solid goes more angular, well, angular for me is the ball goin down 50 feet to the 5 board and comes back for a high flush, hooking it 5 to 10 boards is just normal.

i say go to the guy u purchased ur balls and have him take a look

When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.
