Clean N Dull
« on: October 06, 2015, 05:55:44 PM »
Does anyone know if the use status on Clean N Dull has changed? I practiced next to someone that was using clean and dull and he asked if I had ever used it.  I told him that it was good stuff, but I was looking for something I could use while bowling.  He said it could be used and showed me the bottle and it said for anytime use.  I have a bottle and it says only for before and after.  His bottle was a lot newer than mine as well. His was a cylindrical clear bottle with a squeeze flip top.

His looked like the one on this site

Mine looks like the one on buddies site.  Buddies site also says for use during competition.  Many sites that are selling it say that it is approved during competition. I know clean n dull was approved a while back and then taken off, so perhaps all of this is just old info.

It could just be an oversight, but the current list of approved cleaners at bowl.com, last updated on 9/15/2015, shows Clean n Dull as approved for use before or after.  I know that the product itself was changed a few years ago, but if the bottle has the anytime logo and bowl.com says before/after, which takes precedence in the event of a dispute?

I don't think it's an oversight. The status of Clean & Dull, as to whether it can be used During bowling or only Before or After, has changed several times over the years. I'm sure whoever marketed it at the time of its bottling abided by the USBC/ABC rules. Right now, it is approved for use ONLY BEFORE OR AFTER bowling, not DURING bowling. So it doesn't make any difference what the bottle says, he can't use it during bowling.

See the current USBC listing:
