Are you a Dominator, Underdog, or Dark Horse??
« on: March 09, 2011, 11:45:27 PM »
Thought this might be interested to post to see what type of bowlers/teams we have on this site. Are you one of those bowlers that have a very high average and just dominate each league or tournament year after year? Or maybe you're average is pretty good and you seem to give the better bowlers a run for their money (expecially when the game is on the line)? Or are you just one of those unexpected bowlers that's overlooked and can just burst into the scene unexpectedly and pull a stunner?

I would consider myself as an underdog because I like it when the odds are against me. It just makes my team and I go the distance against a better bowler or team. We might not win every game but we won't make it easy for them to win.

I'm a donator!  Or a donor, depending on whether you believe donator is an actual word or not.

Dark horse.  Give me a look and i'll bowl anyone.  Even better, put the US Open pattern out and lets make spares and managing the pocket a part of the game, we'll find out who's better on a particular day. I average 227 on Wed's night league and 218 on an old wood crazy THS condition that has a tendency to spot up, almost everyone across the league fights it and averages reflect it.

I'm a bowler on the last place team with a 190 avg...*rolls eyes*....When you have 2 bowlers that avg 80 something and are lucky to ever break 100...I dont care how much handicap they have, it still presents issues.  But I can hang with the big boys in the league if I am on my game.   But I guess you cant get too picky when you come into a league mid season and that's all they have avail.  I use it for practice and to get to know people to try to be on a team with next year!  :)

I would consider myself an underdog. I am currently running a 207 average in a scratch league where average is about 212 so not too far off the pace and I can hang with anyone but they would be favored. My team on the other hand is a dark horse. We are a quarter winner and will be bowling for the league title this year after finishing in the lower third of the league last year. Hopefully next year we can reload and do it again. This is a big money league and I am looking forward to the pay out...

Depends on what night and who is running the lanes...

I can strike with the best of them but sparing that blasted 10pin and splits give me trouble..  Who practices picking up splits?

Personally im a dominator, but i dont usually get on teams that win much. Ive been on a few league winning teams, but more often than not my team is at the bottom or middle of the pack at best. I just bowl with people i like bowling with, and if we win, great, if not, oh well. But every league ive been in for the last several years, ive either had high league series, game, average, or a combination of those.

That's just like, your opinion, man.

I wouldnt say I'm a Dominator,  more like a mix of Dark Horse/underdog/dominator

I've had times when nobody thinks i can pull out the win, or I'm just crushing the field.... or I'm just staying @ par or just below the field......

while I'm @ a 198avg in league,    in our PBAX tournys, I've made all but 1 cut, and have taken 3rd several times, 1st once, and several other decent outings....  and figure my avg in these events probably round out to be around mid 190s to low 200's

So on a tougher condition IE flatter shot, I'm someone to not be messed with...

Realistically, I used to be a Dominator, but am now an underdog, working on becoming a dark horse. As I get older, I find it harder and harder to perform at a level high enough to maintain any semblance of being anywhere near the domination level.

Couple that with a bad knee and a job that severely limits my bowling to about 3-6 games a week, and you can easily see why I have gone down that far. I still average around 210, but that's really nothing anymore these days.

Funny, considering I once won high average in our mens league with a 201 average.

On the Central tour I am the underdog, people know me and I can keep up but I am never a favorite to take it all.

Good post.

I am definitely a donator. No  excuses. Don't practice and I only bowl once a week, if that. Can't make a spare most of the time. Book avg 190 last year, but only avg 175 right now.

Still, not a bad guy to have on the team. Always makes a shot in the clutch, can read the lanes, understand ball reaction, and keep everybody else in rhythm. I hit my average, usually better under pressure.

Some day, I will be great.

Can a lefty with a 250rpm rev rate ever be considered a dominator?  Don't get me wrong, I score well but I don't think I intimidate anyone.
