Are You Bowling This Summer or Taking Time Off?
« on: April 14, 2009, 09:05:11 AM »
I decided to take the summer off bowling for abit to workout my body more and mend to some dents in my armor (mainly my wrist and upper back). About the only time I'll bowl is in June for the Louisville Derby Tourney and might bowl once in May and July but that seems about it until mid-August. Plus I want to try and golf more this summer too if my body permits it. What is everyone else doing this summer?

practicing on pba shots, basically keeping in bowling form till next year..just scaling back a bunch. first year of doing 3 leagues a week, plus subbing on another league and a bi-weekly traveling league. Add in the occasional Sunday morning practice session for the spare game and ball movement theorycraft (see also, experimenting with hand positions and cover changes) which tends to go towards 10 games.

My wrist and hand are a little stiff in the morning from the increased workload, but they loosen out with a little stretching and morning activity. My knee seems to be holding up great and my back has actually improved since the first few months of the league season.

Taking the summer off. Too many things to be done. Fixing up the old Firebird, as well as the new one, and starting my motorcycle fabrication, to name a few. I'll most likely be open bowling once every couple of weeks though to keep the flow in order.

I'm not going to bowl in a league this summer but do some practice bowling to fine tune my game to get ready for the fall.I did not do that last time and my average drop some. What I did was to bowl at one center than go bowling that night in a league.By doing that it seem to help quite a bit.I done this past two weeks. If I were to done this sooner,I would have some good games then.
I hate ten pins but love the game of bowling with just the right ball to take them out.

I'll be bowling a summer league. The center gives summer bowlers free open bowling. When I am not too lazy I usually go before work (2nd shift) and get 6-10 games in 3-4 times a week. I've got alot to work on, lol.

Not bowling a league as there isn't a PBA league close enough to bowl in and i'm not up for a THS league when I can better utilize the time to practice. I've got lots to work on this summer and will be practicing frequently and working on progressing my game.

Last year was the first year in about 15 that I got talked into bowling. What a stinkin JOKE!!!!!!!!!!! We bowlers brought our own fans to keep cool. The center advertised a scratch PBA experience league. What a stinkin JOKE!!!!!! The oiling machine was due for replacement, so they advertised buying a new one for the Experience League. What a stinkin JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!! The shot was always the same, with a little more or little less oil. I used the same ball(Intense Inferno) all summer. Shark, I threw straight up 10, Cheetah, threw straight up 10, On, and On we go. Same scores, same averages, every week the same. The league is shut down this summer. I know it's hard to believe. The bowling center is wondering why no one bowls in the summer. IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!
How hard is it to put out a GOOD shot? Seriously? Extremely tight lanes, ALWAYS!!!!! I get excited when the oiling knuckelhead touches the WRONG button and ACCIDENTLY changes the shot. You cannot swing the ball more than 6 boards, EVER!!! I go to tournaments to experience CLEAN backends. I believe the problem is in that in a town of 100,000 people, we only have ONE bowling center!!!!!! WHAT A STINKIN JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thanks for listening.
Boy do I feel better, THANX, the don
