Are you ready for the fall leagues?
« on: August 22, 2004, 11:24:42 AM »
Mine starts 1 week from Tuesday.  Mentally, I am ready, however I am not sure my back will be.  I've been whining about this for a week now, but I hope the ol' chiro can get me back in line and ready to roll!

This will be our 3rd season together as a team, the first was OK (finished 18 of 36), last year we got thumped by everyone (35th or so of 38 teams), so I think this could be the year we could realistically finish in the top 10 (of 40 teams).  We have a solid group, just need to catch the other teams on their normal or bad nights instead of everyone shooting lights out against us! LOL.  Anyway, how does your team look for this upcoming season?

My team won last winter, we came in second in the summer (we should have been first but they choked when I was on vacation), so I have a feeling we're gonna do good again.  Everyone has been improving.

My industrial league team on Tuesday nights (which starts a week from Tuesday as well) has 1 new member due to my father in law's health, as a result I was able to convince a long time bowler who hasn't bowled competitively in over 6 years to come back to my team. We grew up bowling together in youth leagues and this will be the first time I've bowled with him on a team in our times with adult leagues. So we are looking solid as far as having the highest team average again in the league, hopefully we can better our performance as we finished in 3rd one half and 1st in the second half last year. I think I'm ready for bowling, I'll have a couple of new pieces in my arsenal to see what works best.

On the other league that I sub in, I believe they lost one of their higher average bowlers who is moving cross country, but otherwise have the same lineup as last year and should be able to compete in the top 3 teams out of a 16 team league.

Yes I am ready.. I am not bowling in league this season. I might establish a legal average substituting. I hate bowling leagues and hate bowling in memphis. So what will I gain if I do? And what will I loose if I dont? Do I really need another year of averaging between 215 and 230? Do I care about potentially shooting another award score and will anybody else care if I do? Leagues here have ALREADY started.. 36 weeks. I suppose if I liked bowling with anybody from here it might be different. But the thought of bowling with anybody for 36 weeks makes me ill. I might not ever bowl another league as long as I am here in memphis.
