Is there any way to find out if anyone has ever thrown a sanctioned 292 game? I've never heard of or seen one myself. My brother has a friend who is putting together a tournament where you can win $1,000,000 for throwing one. I'd hate to see that insurance premium he'll have to pay.

I remember seeing in the ABC newsletter that there have been 7 or 8 of them thrown.  You can probably dig and find the info on Bowl.com.

I've checked bowl.com and all they have is 299, 300 and 800 numbers. I even e-mailed them a couple of times but got no responses, go figure.

I glanced through the site without luck as well.  They sent out a newsletter a few months ago that gave the total number of all games bowled 290 and higher.  I think there were 7 or 8 292's.

In the spring 2004 issue of American Bowler, it says that 15 292 games have been reported......It also says that there have been 0 games where a bowler has knocked down a total of 1 pin in the first frame, followed by 11 strikes for a 271 game.

These numbers have been compiled by the ABC from 1981 - 2003

I've got one.  At the time in '88 it was the eighth all time.  Picked off the 6-10 on a deep inside shot with OB outside of 10...ball skidded in OB as I got it to wide slid and barely nudged the 10 into the 6 and that's it.   At the time was ticked but after time it's made me the biggest knucklehead in my local bowling community.  Did it at Red Carpet South Milwaukee now called AMF South Park.  Where ABC Women's Nat'l team event was held a few years ago.

It's a quarterly magazine. Not really much in it, a bunch of ads and a few stories. It just started showing up in my mailbox after I got sanctioned for league last fall.....Looks to me like they send this out four times a year to ABC members. If you are a sanctioned member, and they have your current address, you probably should've been receiving the mag.

americanbowler@bowlinginc.com is an e-mail address if you want to question them about it.

They also list bowlinfo@bowlinginc.com as an address to use if you need to make an address change.

Or you could try going to www.bowl.com and click on the ABC tab......I don't know if there is anything about the mag there or not.

While viewing the results of the most recent Eastern regional PBA tournament, I noticed that Jim Tomek shot a 292 in one of the match play games.

I find this sort of odd information interesting.  I would have guessed that 271 would occur more often than 292.  I guess not.

If you hold an ABC card, you *should* get one in your mailbox every three months.
