arm swing
« on: September 13, 2012, 10:49:35 AM »
hey I need some advice as to how to free up a muscled swing, i have averaged 210 plus for 4 yrs and have 1 800 and 6 3's, but now i am struggling to break 160, everyone is telling me its my swing. Maybe I have to dismantle my game and learn a better way, all suggestions are welcome....

Maybe post a video of you bowling? Otherwise, let me be the first of many here to suggest; you need a coach. Not your league buddies, but an actual coach who can help you. Your pro shop might have someone who can help you or at least can suggest someone. Bowl.com has a list of registered coach's and you can search by location.

Although there are some very knowledgeable people here, I seriously doubt this is a problem you can solve on your own with the help of a few "tips" from people who have never seen you bowl.

Good luck, we all have those days when things get out of whack and bowling no longer makes sense. :-)

+1 for Milo's recommendation. Even with a video, we can't check your hand or your fit (usually the start of the muscled swing is a improper fit). Get to a coach that is qualified, and see what he says.

If you give your location, someone from here is from there, I bet. :)

rochester mn, i hesitate to post a video for a couple of reasons. first being that i dont know how lol the other being that my bowling is so awkward and unorthodox that i fear no one can really get an idea as to where to begin.....as i stated i have had success in the past , yes on a house shot (aside from a 298 at the 1,2,3 in reno last yr) i am also 37 yrs old and i dont think i can start over. i have already invested 7 yrs in the sport and went from being one of the worst in my wednesday league to the top 5....that being said if anyone knows of a coach who can work with what i have i am willing to listen

We all go about the task of throwing a bowling ball in our own unique way.  ;D

Unless you are trying to become a professional, a good coach will work with what you already do unless it's such a major flaw that it would never work or you risk injury. But since you had previous success, that doesn't sound like the case here.
