New Shoes .... What to Buy?
« on: September 13, 2012, 04:31:07 PM »
Well, my Dexter SST 5s are beginning to fall apart after 5 or 6 years of hard use. I have always used Dexters but would like to see if some of the other brands are more comfortable. Your opinions and reasons, please !

Specs:  Mens size 10 Right Handed, with interchangeable soles and heels. I have a thin, narrow foot which makes it difficult to use some shoes. The medium width is usually OK, but usually I must draw up the laces really tight to make the shoes stay on.

If medium width are too wide, try using winter socks, athletic socks or the new Stability Socks. They're really good but quite thick.

I prefer 3G Tour Ultras to Dexter VI, or VIIIs (8s). The 3Gs only come in medium width but I normally wear a 4E width shoe and they fit me. Try them one or if buying on the internet, get the sizing guarantee (if they don't fit you can return them. Most places offer that for shoes.)

I've never tried Etonics.

i've been using the etonic tour master shoe's for a year now & i like the sole set up on how you can customize your slide. as far as comfort, very comfortable. quality of the shoe is holding up very well. do not overlook them.

I tried the Etonic Tour Master and loved how they felt on my feet. Slightly more narrow than the Dexters I used to wear.  My problem was that stupid heel. The rubber edge (even on the slick heel) was too much brake for me and my bad ACL.  So I will probably forever be in my trusty Linds. I have a pair of Custom ones, and a pair of Classics that will probably get me through the next 20 years or so. With the insoles I found at Walmart they are easily as comfortable, too.
