Prebowling meal
« on: March 14, 2009, 09:05:49 AM »
I have to bowl D/S at 7am on Friday (I really wish I knew who picked that squad).  Any advice on a good meal, most likely from the buffet, to keep the energy level up?  I know to stay away from the greasy foods like bacon (mmmm, bacon) and sausage.  Any other ideas?

Scratch the buffet idea, I just checked the website and the buffet at Excalibur doesn't even open till 7am

get some eggs, toast, a banana, and a 5 hour energy drink.

The 5 hour energy is so much better than all the other energy drinks like Monsters or Rockstars

Stop by the bowling alley cafe and get yourself a nice wet fry/poutine with some poached eggs and maybe some super nachos.

For me, 5 hour energy is a godsend when I am sleep deprived, but doesn't do too much otherwise.

When I need a for real energy boost, Monster Lo-Carb is it. I don't need all the sugar, just give me the caffeine and other chemical stimulants and that's what Monster Lo-Carb does, in double dose form. I'd rather get my carbs from something like an egg mcmuffin which has more protein. I'd also recommend the Aldi peanut butter chocolate chip granola bars, very low in fat.

Of course, I don't know your schedule, but it seems like going to bed at 10pm, waking up at 6am, having a bowl of cereal and then hitting the road with a shower AFTER bowling (and/or before going to bed) would be the best way to do things, because it would give you the 8 hrs you need.

I usually dont see anyone mention poutine outside of quebec. Where are you from?

To the point, eat a late supper of pasta and chicken its good healthy carbs, breakfast have more carbs like toast and peanut butter and stay away from sugary stuff.

What about finding a bakery near your hotel and even if it's the night before D/S, pick up a couple bagels and have those with your beverage of choice?  It'll fill you up and if you go whole grain for the slow release carbs, all the better

I am thinking about trying those.  But I know I can't be hungry while I bowl or I won't be able to concentrate

I'm the same way.  See if there isn't a place around that you can pick up some donuts the night before.  They'll keep just fine overnight and would be something to put in your stomach to tide you over till you can get some real food.
