I'm trying to decide between the Arson Low Flare and the Tag for my next ball. I currently have a Virtual Gravity Nano and a Asylum but I've started bowling in an older wood house with a lot of friction. I'm not afraid to move my feet and play inside but I feel like the lanes are playing me instead of the other way around.

Stats:

14-15 mph off the hand
Around 300 revs
Pap is 4" 1/2 up

Let me know what you think I've heard great things about both balls

i have several of the low flares, the advice i was given from one of the staffers was to drill it stronger than normal as its a pretty weak piece. And it was with the factory OBB surface
Once i  dulled it up, it was estimated 3-4 boards stronger
i have used factory finish polish on it with great success, very rolly and continuous, i also bought some of the factory "clean n sheen" polish which a matte finish to replicate the factory OBB
either way, i have used it dull, with polish and with factory clean n sheen polish, all 3 ways produced different results

the numbers on the 2 balls are different, the tag would seem to be over/under if this a little volume because of its high grit surface and polish while the low flare is a different concept. has some underlying surface plus polish and a weaker core

If there is really a lot of friction I'd go with the arson low flare. The Tag is Motiv's new ball that is essentially skid/flip which could put you into some trouble if you'd rather not play too far inside

In reference to the ALF.. ALF, or ALF Solid?

I am intrigued by the Low Flare as well, but for you purposes something that is a little more skid flip might be better.  Reason, never try to change balls to keep from moving inside.  Instead follow the shot, then go to a ball that is effective from the deeper angle.

ALF Solid is 2.48 with a diff of 0.020
Tag is 2.55 with a diff of 0.037.

If you're looking to chase it in, Tag. If you want to keep from going so left to right, ALF.

I'm a fan of the ALF Solid because of the amount of control it allows you to have after the lanes have gone straight to crap.

i recently was at a tournament where we did a double shift
little oil to start and 2nd shift normally calls for 5th arrow or more, then lofting
i took my pin down low flare, 4000+ polish.
started out 2nd shift at 17 and never got much farther than 20-21
the low flare got through the dry heads and was even and arcing
carried quite well, 1st 600 series i ever had on that crappy shot
had a 9 bagger at one point, ended up 648 at + in the brackets
i couldnt have used anything that was skid flippy at all, shot was flatter and tough

I think that is a great choice for your strategy.  Going clear back to polyester days many people didn't understand that you started with weaker stuff when you could stay out, then went stronger as you went deeper.  Worst thing in bowling people can do is try to go weaker to avoid moving.  Here is the reason.  Once the oil goes, the coefficient of friction between ball and lane is almost as high with a tame shell as a stronger shell.  You have to find the head oil
