So this morning was the final week of our summer duos league I am a part of.  My duo was tied for third, 5 points out of second and a whole heap out of first (21 points a week system).  Two games go by, and first place locks up first mathematically.  My team has won 8/10, while second place has only won 3/10.  We gained the 5 points and have the ability to jump into second keeping up with the pace.  This is where things get weird:  first place just dumps it all to second place.  A high 21X bowler bowls a 14X and a 20X the next two games.  The other bowler of this first place team is a nice lady who tried her best to shoot a 200, she has a 16X avg and plays the game with a bit more integrity than this other dude.  So needless to say, 2nd place wins the next 10 points and total wood for a total of 14 points.  My team winds up only winning a few more points the next two games and couldn't get up to second.

What would you do if you knew first place was dumping to help out friends?  I find it really sleazy.  We let them know we saw what happened, and I let the league officers know.  They didn't do anything because everybody knows everybody else.  I'm actually quite close to not returning to this league because of these yahoos.  But I'm just curious if there's anything we can do in case this situation arises again?

Some stayed in the foothills, some washed logs like teeth.

One bowler was over their average, the other had one bad game and the others right about his average.  I wish I could say I never threw a 140 game with a 210 average.  Unless he was repeatedly picking off the corners with the first ball and making a lame attempt at the spares, you got nothing.  One game out of their six that was a good bit below their averages doesn't prove anything.  I know it's frustrating when a team you need to win points doesn't, but based on what you said, there was no obvious dumping.

I'vee seen that scenario happen many times over the years.  Once a team has first place locked up, they'll ease up and allow the second place team to lock up their spot.  

not really much you can do about it, except take names and remember their actions when you bowl against them in the future for a little extra incentive to beat them...
